I have been interested in long distance, ultra marathon bicycle riding for a long time. My first ultra riding experience was the 1979 Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP)1200km (750 miles) event. Completing this ride made me realize what was possible when you believed you could do it. Bicycle Across Missouri (BAM) in 1980 was next at 540 miles. In 1981, marriage and family meant a different style of riding for the next 26 years. In 2007 I decided to do PBP again and since then have focused on improving my skills and have ridden in many events locally in Minnesota and across the US and Canada, gaining many new friends and enjoying many fun and memorable experiences with them along the way.
In late 2009 I decided to push myself further and signed up for the 2010 PACTour Elite Tour, crossing the US from San Diego, Ca to Williamsburg, Va in 19 days, averaging 160 miles a day. Planning and preparing for this ride has been my main focus since November. The Elite Tour starts May 16th.
